The portion of the Race to Alaska from Victoria to Ketchikan, Alaska started today at 12 noon. Two of the OARCA board members are participating in the race AGAIN. This time they are sailing although they have also rowed and kayaked (twice!) the race in past years. This year there are five rowing shells heading to Alaska as part of the race. All very different. It shows that rowing comes in many different forms and can take you to wonderful places. You can follow our OARCA board members (Team Madame Oaracle and the Prairie Porch Pirates) and the rowers via the Race to Alaska Tracker.

Here are some photos of the rowing boats that headed off to Alaska from Victoria today (June 8, 2023).

Team Hornblower
Team Lillian’s Vacation
Team of One
Team Solveig
Team Wave Forager
Not a rowing shell but I couldn’t resist adding it. If you thought the rowers were crazy, this is a SUP on its way to Alaska!
