We just got the exciting news that the Rowing Canada Aviron Board has granted our request to change our status from “Special Association” to “Rowing Club”. This means we can now offer coastal rowing programs and camps, which was not possible under our “Special Association” status. With this new status our goals are essentially as follows:
- To increase access of coastal rowing and participation, for both local community members and visitors.
- To support the development of coastal clubs and programs in other locations by sharing lessons, policies, best practices etc.
- To provide a platform to facilitate sharing of information among those interested in developing coastal rowing clubs/programs.
As we work through the process of becoming a formal rowing club, we shall share our lessons learned along the way. In the meantime, we are just happy to have a boat in our Tulista compound. More to come!
