PROGRAMS:
Non-Rowing – Members of this program are not eligible to race as OARCA members or access OARCA boats.
Coastal Rowing Supporter 2024-2025 (Non rowing). This program is for those who are interested in being part of the coastal rowing discussion. It is not meant as a rowing program and thus does NOT entitle you row or race for OARCA. It is just for those who want to connect with other coastal rowing enthusiasts. It is only $25 if you are already a member of RCA and RowingBC. If not, you will need to pay those fees as well ($25.75 RowingBC + 27.50 RCA fee ).
Expand your rowing skills or join us for a Learn to Row if there is room – You can register through the RCA membership system. Note that the following programs are the same but just at different times. Select the program at the time that suits you.
- Coastal Rowing II – October (2pm). If you have taken one of OARCA’s Learn to Coastal Row or are an experienced rower and want to practice rowing on the ocean, this program is for you. Over three Mondays, we will review safety, boat handling and the basics of the rowing stroke for our newer rowers. You will be rowing in coxed quads (4 rowers and one coxswain) and doubles (2 people), with at least one experienced rower/coach in each boat. Coaches are all certified with Rowing Canada and keen to share their love of rowing with you. The first session is on Monday, October 7th, and then on October 21st and 28th. (We figure no one wants to row after a big Thanksgiving meal!) The sessions go from 2:00pm – 3:30pm and are based at Tulista park in Sidney. The cost is $75. (If this is your first program with us, then you may have to pay an additional $53.25 for the annual RCA and PRA member fees.)

General Rowing Programs – Members of these program are experienced rowers and are eligible to access OARCA boats.
- OARCA Rowing Full Membership. This program extends to the end of March, 2025. Members should be experienced rowers and comfortable rowing without a coach or safety boat present. Membership provides you with access to the coastal boats: 4 solos, 5 coastal doubles and 2 coastal coxed quads, with oars. Boats are currently stored at two locations. (1) Tulista Coastal Rowing Centre at Tulista Park (Sidney) with launching privileges at the Tulista boat ramp, and (2) temporarily at the Cadboro Bay compound. Members of this program are required to complete an orientation that covers launching, landing, basic safety, and equipment care/handling, and to file a float plan before each row. Members can use any of the OARCA solos or doubles in a regatta without additional charge.
- Punch Card 2024-2025. This punch card is for experienced rowers to enjoy exploring our local waters in coastal boats. The punch card is good for 10 rows, and expires at the end of March, 2025. The first punched row must include an orientation session that covers launching, landing, basic safety, and equipment care/handling, and how to file a float plan before each row. The punch card may not be used for boats at a regatta.
- Punch Card 2024-2025 (Club version). RCA member rowing clubs outside the Greater Victoria area may purchase a standard “Punch Card 2024-2025” to be shared by multiple club members. If interested, contact OARCA for more details at: membership@oarca.org
- Racing Membership. Have your own coastal boat and want to enter some RCA sanctioned races? Race for OARCA under this membership. You will get voting privileges within OARCA but you won’t have access to OARCA equipment, facilities, programming or any discounts on boat rentals at events.
We look forward to having you join us!
