
We have a flurry of activity over the next few weeks that we wanted to inform you of, and in some cases ask for your help!
- Cold Water Workshop – Wednesday April 23rd @ 7PM via Zoom. No charge – OARCA members and non-members invited.Register for Cold Water Workshop. Cold water is all around us on the south coast of BC. Join Janice Mason & Ian Graeme, who have spent many hours rowing and paddling the BC coast, to learn about the myths and truths about cold water immersion, and how to manage risk and reinforce safety while out on the water.
- Intercultural Association of Victoria – youth rowing opportunity – VOLUNTEER opportunity. Thursday May 1st 4-6pm Location – Cadboro Bay (at UVic Sailing Compound). We have 15-20 youth joining us for a Come Try Rowing afternoon. Volunteers needed from 3:30-6:30pm – contact Janice at jemcity@proton.me if you can help!
- Pool rescue session – open to all current OARCA members at no cost, BUT you must sign up ahead of time. Saturday May 3 – 6:30-8:30PM at Saanich Commonwealth Place. This 2 hour session (you don’t have to stay for the full time) gives people an opportunity to observe and practice getting into coastal C1x and C2x in the protect waters of a swimming pool. Wear swimsuit or rowing garb. Sign up here for pool rescue session. Non-members are welcome to attend for a fee of $20.
- Regular Saturday Morning Rows at Tulista Park Compound 8 AM for OARCA members. Sign up here to ensure a seat.
- National Come Try Rowing Day and World Oceans Day – June 8th – mark your calendars – Tulista Park & Cadboro Bay
- Western Canada Beach Sprints June 21-22 Cadboro Bay. Mark your calendars. Volunteering to help is a great way to learn more about this exciting addition to the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles.
